Some stores have switched to appointment-only models because they have been experiencing growing problems with crimes such as robberies and unwanted visitors entering through the front door or delivery doors. The appointment-only model allows store owners to keep doors locked during normal hours to protect clients, employees, and inventories.

A vandal-resistant video doorbell station could be installed at all entrances. Employees would be able to see and speak with visitors whether calls were from the front door or the delivery door. The primary intercom station was placed at the reception area so an employee could instantly see and talk with anyone arriving at either door. Additionally, staff could see and speak with anyone at either door using the intercom app on their mobile device from anywhere in the building to verify the visitor's identity before allowing them into the store.
